Probably you have bought clothes for a child on the Internet more than once - for example an elegant dress for girls in size 134 - and it turned out that it has too short sleeves or is too narrow at the waist. Shopping is especially difficult when you can't try on your baby's clothes right away, you just have to take the manufacturer's assurances.
Unfortunately, the size is often uneven and you have to search the stores pretty well to find the right clothes. We encourage you to look at the dimensions when buying skirts, blouses or dresses for girls. However, how to check if they will be really good?
How not to get lost in the sizes?
In clothes for adults, the size of clothes is a fairly well-known and simple system - they are usually marked with letters such as XS, S, M, L, XL, etc. However, in the case of children's wardrobe it is not so easy.
Some manufacturers use the child's height, eg 56 cm, 62 cm, 134 cm, etc. Some of them additionally combine them with the length and mark clothes like this, eg 62/68 cm. Some producers create their own sizes and you can find clothes with a size, for example, 81 cm. Still others are based on… the age of the child! That is why you will find, for example, 0-3 months on their tag. It can make you feel dizzy!
In our store, we try to provide as many values as possible for different models of clothes. Therefore, you can find data such as: age, length / height of the child, but also other dimensions that can help you choose the right fit, e.g. dresses for a girl. Often these are: sleeve length, waist or chest circumference.
Why does the size chart sometimes lie?
Remember that children differ in body composition, for example, so the size may not be the same as age or height. These are just average values! Therefore, do not be influenced by the fact that your one-year-old daughter does not fit into dresses for girls from her age range - the most important thing is that the clothes are well-fitted and comfortable!
How to measure a child?
To choose the right size of the garment, you need to know the dimensions of your child's body parts. However, how do you measure your baby well? A tailor's tape measure will come in handy for this!
- Body length - ask your child to stand barefoot with their back to the wall. It is important that you stand still, with your back straight, and rest your feet on the floor. Now measure the length from the ground to the top of the head.
- Sleeve Length - Measure the length from the shoulder to the wrist.
- Leg Length - Measure the length from the inside of the leg, from the ankle to the crotch.
- Head circumference - wrap the tailor's ruler at the widest point of the baby's head.
- Chest circumference - wrap a measuring tape under the armpits around the chest and measure the circumference while inhaling.
- Waist - wrap the tailor's ruler at the narrowest point on the baby's belly.
